Sources of Financial Aid

The ASU Master of Real Estate Program understands that meeting program costs can be challenging. Your program costs can be funded by a number of resources available through scholarships, federal student loans, alternative loans, and graduate assistantships.

Federal Direct Loan Program

The Direct Loan Program allows all citizens and eligible non-citizens to receive financial aid regardless of their income. The MRED program strongly encourages you to establish your eligibility for aid through the completion of FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) whether or not you currently anticipate a need for financial assistance. This expedites the process of receiving financial aid funds in the case of unforeseen financial circumstances. To obtain financial aid funds, admitted MRED candidates must complete the FAFSA-Free Application for Federal Student Aid. http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

Alternative Loans

Unlike Stafford Loans, alternative loans are not need-based. They are private, unsecured, credit-based loans issued to students to help off set the cost of tuition, fees, supplies, living expenses, and various other costs associated with their education. You can apply for alternative loans whenever the need for aid arises, and therefore, there are no deadlines associated with these loans. Depending on the lender, most alternative loans can be funded within 5-7 working days after a borrower has completed an online application and has been conditionally pre-approved for the loan. Because of numerous private lenders offering alternative loans and a wide variety of offers, please contact the Student Financial Assistance at ASU Tempe campus to choose the best loan for your particular needs: 480.965.3355 Monday-Friday: 8:30-4:30.

Graduate Teaching Assistantships

  • A graduate Teaching Assistantship (TA) requires the recipient to work for an academic unit 10 or 20 hours a week, depending on the appointment. TA's responsibilities may consist of providing faculty teaching support, teaching undergraduate courses, grading, maintaining and setting up classroom media equipment, assisting guest speakers or providing general MRED program support. To apply for the teaching assistantship, please fill out the Application for Teaching Assistantship. The program will match available positions based on interest, experience, and fit.
