In the 21st century, Phoenix is the preeminent laboratory for the study of real estate development in the United States. Known for its climate and quality of life around the world, Phoenix has exhibited dramatic and sustained economic growth for the last half-century. The population of the Phoenix metro area has grown 66 percent between 1990 and 2004 with such growth trends expected to continue for another two to three decades. Commingled with new vibrant communities, retail and business centers, and places of recreation are many of the attributes of sprawl, transportation problems, and environmental degradation that are the by-products of rapid urbanization.
Given such rapid expansion, Phoenix is a crucible for real estate development, study, innovation, and knowledge creation. It is through strategic and pioneering approaches that Phoenix will continue to be important to our growing and changing regional and national society and serves as a significant learning platform. The Master of Real Estate Development program offers an industry relevant educational experience with real world linkages propelled by a rigorous exploration of the process and possibilities within contemporary real estate development.
