Located at the Hotel Valley Ho on Wednesday April 25th, 2007, a room full of industry professionals, potential employers, and faculty were in attendance as the MRED students presented their final capstone project. Six teams of future developers presented their ideas, analysis, proformas and designs for a 15 acre site on Indian School Road and Central Avenue owned by Barron Collier. A distinguished panel industry professionals focused on the options for a large mixed use, high density urban infill site. It was an exciting exchange.
The day was full of fresh thinking presentations addressing many aspects of development from site planning, regulatory constraints and determinants, financial projections, project phasing and market analysis with viable solutions for the project site. Each project team worked as a group with the MRED core faculty and also consulted with outside professionals in the public and private realms to tackle this complex location and to present the most viable options. Testimonials as to the professionalism of the presentations and the depth of research in a compressed time frame have been gratifying.
This final project presentation concludes the MRED inaugural class for these 30 master candidates who graduated on May 11, 2007. Arizona State University is glad to present these key leaders and decision makers who are prepared, through this interdisciplinary education, to address critical issues of design, law finance and construction in the challenging realm of real estate development.
